Ella Drollinger: Visionary Pioneer

In the early 1940s, Ella Drollinger recognized the potential of a developing neighborhood near Mines Field (now LAX) and invested in its future. She constructed Westchester’s first commercial building, the Jim Dandy Market, in 1947, transforming a sparsely populated area into a thriving community hub. Her foresight and determination laid the foundation for Westchester’s commercial growth, earning her recognition as a pioneering real estate developer in a male-dominated industry.

Howard Drollinger: Legacy Builder

Following in his mother’s footsteps, Howard Drollinger took the helm of the family business in 1947. Under his leadership, Drollinger Properties expanded significantly, becoming the largest landowner and property manager in Westchester’s Central Business District. He was instrumental in developing key commercial properties and revitalizing the area during challenging times, including the downturn caused by LAX expansion. Beyond his business endeavors, Howard was deeply committed to community service, actively participating in organizations such as the Rotary Club, LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce, and Loyola Marymount University.

Karen Dial: Community-Focused Leadership

As President of Drollinger Properties since 2007, she loves supporting the people and businesses that make this community so special. She fulfilled a lifelong dream in 2020 with the opening of The Book Jewel, an independent bookstore for Westchester, and continued her passion for elevated community spaces in 2024 by opening Tomat, right next door.

Karen believes our community’s true strength comes from the diversity, warmth, and collaboration of its tenants and neighbors. Inspired by Karen’s leadership, Drollinger Properties, is passionate about creating welcoming, well-kept spaces—and we’re looking for tenants and partners who are as proud to be part of this community as we are.
